Bare Metal / Management
Remote console
Use KVM or IPMI to inspect boot problems and recover server access.
Use the remote console to reach the server's screen and keyboard when SSH or RDP is unavailable.
You can also follow an installer started through Virtual media or Custom iPXE.
Request and open a session
- In the cloud console, open Baremetal Servers, select your server, then KVM.
- Check Your IPv4 address (for forwarding). Enter your public IPv4 manually if detection fails.
- Choose a Session timeout and select Request KVM Session.
- When ready, select Open KVM Session.
Access is limited to the specified IP. Changing networks or VPN connections may require a new session.
IPMI forwarding
If the page offers IPMI Forwarding, copy the displayed IPMI Username and IPMI Password, then select Access IPMI.
These credentials sign in to the management controller. Use your server credentials if the operating system asks you to log in.
Troubleshooting
- Confirm your current public IPv4 matches the session's allowed address.
- Allow the new browser tab to open.
- Request a new session if the previous one expired or was already opened.
- Read the console's explanation if KVM is unavailable or an operation is in progress.
Contact support with the server identifier and error. Omit passwords and session URLs.
See the API guide to automate remote access.
