Bare Metal / Management

Deploy a server

Order a bare metal server and install its operating system using the Serverside.com cloud console.

Deployment installs an operating system on your server. You choose the image and set the login password in the cloud console.

Choose your server

If you already have a server, open Baremetal Servers, select it, and continue to the operating system step.

For a new server:

  1. Open Deploy Services in the console.
  2. Choose an available bare metal plan and location.
  3. Review the server configuration, networking options, and billing cycle. Hourly billing is available only for organizations approved for it.
  4. Continue to the order confirmation, review the total and billing details, then select Place order.
  5. Complete payment if the order generates an invoice. For prepaid plans, we provision the server after its invoice is paid in full.
  6. Once the service is available, find it under Baremetal Servers and open it.

Select an operating system

Open the server's Deploy tab and select Operating Systems. Choose an available image and, where offered, its version.

For a standard installation, leave Cloud-init Script blank. Linux installations can use this field for first-boot configuration. Supported Linux images and hardware also offer Configure RAID. Windows deployments do not offer SSH keys or RAID in this form.

The Applications tab installs a preconfigured application with its base operating system. Complete any application-specific fields if you choose this option.

Set and save your credentials

Enter a Local Password that meets the rules shown beside the field. You can use the password generator and copy control. For Linux, select or add an SSH public key if you want to connect with a key.

For Windows, the standard login is Administrator. For Linux, use the Username listed in Server Information on the server's Overview page after deployment.

Start deployment

Select Start Deployment, review the confirmation, and confirm only when you are ready to replace the server's contents. The progress screen shows the current stage. Wait for the deployment to finish before trying to sign in.

If deployment fails, review the operation in Activity and contact support with the server identifier and the last reported stage. Avoid repeatedly reinstalling a server while investigating a failure.

Connect to the server

Find the server's public IP address on its overview or network page, then follow the guide for its operating system:

To add addresses or share an address pool across servers, see Public IP Blocks.

If Start Deployment is unavailable, check the required fields and any displayed reason. A server lock, an operation already in progress, or insufficient account permissions can prevent deployment.

Use the API quickstart for ordering and installation from code, or the deployment API workflow for SSH keys, cloud-init, and progress polling.

For your own installer or recovery image, use Virtual media or Custom iPXE.
